Bike cut out....

Hi all....Came across this forum, would be good if someonehas any advice.
I pretty new to bikes, I have a Yam DTX 125. Been working great.
I was coming home yesterday and travelling down a steep hill braking etc. Got to the bottom and put my clutch on and the bike cut out.
Now it tries to start but doesn't seem to fire. Have check the spark plug and will replace today.
I took right side panel off and found the water inlet for the rad. it was near enough empty, not sure if that has any relevants.
Anything I can check before I take it down the garage.
Many thanks
Scott

I've never had this happen on my DT so I don't know and don't really have a clue but it could be an electronic fault, possible a problem with the CDI? It may be a problem with the side stand switch. Try wheeling it forwards and backwards then try starting, you never know and oh, do you have plenty of fuel in there?

Also check the clutch.

Does it just turn over the motor then or doesn't it even do that as another thing to check is that you didn't hit the emergency cut out switch by accident!

I have had the red face with the cut off before, so lesson well learnt.
I filled it up that morning, had completed 25miles before it went.
I will try rolling it back and forth tonight.
How can I check the clutch? and CDI?
Sorry to be so brainless, all a learning process.:)
many thanks for your kind response
Scott

Hi again,
I have had a look and found the HT lead seems to be broken.
Maybe you can confirm that its in two pieces.
Seems the cap is a unit to itself and the lead (very short length) slot in to the cap, but doesn;t stay. I would image its broken apart.
Seems to fix that maybe I would need a new lead (easy to get?) and opene the bike up, tanks off maybe. Is this a job for the faint hearted? :)
Cheers
Scott

HT leads usually screw in to the cap and coil. Its an easy fix with just the rad scoops off

Many thanks for the response.
I can see what has happened now. The screw thread has corroded and come apart. Will get a new cap and screw it in.
well chuffed.
Thanks again
