been reading the dtx topics about earthing the green and black wire,i guess this is the same as me pulling the white oblong connector from under my speedo on my 02 dtr.whats confusing is that a dtx forum user says the black and green wire needs earthing so it derestricts the powervalve.how is the powervalve restricted if it runs by a servo???????????//

when the dtx is new the powervalve should be working by the servo,so by earthing the green and black wire wat does it do the servo?

The servo is controlled by the cdi, the cdi gets a message from the black/green wire telling it to make the powervalve servo close at a certain point.

The cdi needs the circuit to be complete however and thats why you earth the wire.

Complete circuit and no signal being sent to close the powervalve = no restriction.

There are more things then that restricting the powervalve though, but you need to find a unrestricted cdi or to disconnect the servo to fix that

your asking this because your dt wont rev past 8k with the servo on right?

Take the powervalve cover off and watch it turn while you rev the bike, it should be closed when you start the bike and open at around 8k.

If it does that then go on a road in gear one and open the throttle fully, does it still not rev past 8k?

Make sure the powervalve cables are adjusted so they have only a tiny ammount of slack, you shouldn't be able to turn the powervalve by hand.

If there is still no luck and you are intent on using the servo, adjust the powervalve so that instead of being alligned with the hole it is to the left of it
