Has anyone fitted a 170 kit? I was going to send my barrel away to Stan Stevens for a tune but I'd like to know how well the 170 kit goes before I make my ind up

At a guess I'd say the 170 gives you more grunt and the tune gives you more revs.

Neither will give any more speed without sprocket / gearing changes.

i wouldnt waste 500 pound on a 170cc kit mate, theres just no point, if you want more thrills then pass your test and get a bigger bike.

You could get a secondhand cylinder and have it bored out to the max oversize which is 2.0mm and this will give you a new capacity of approx 145cc for less than £100 all in.

I've just had a cylinder bored and a new piston kit (Japanese) for approx £65 all in at SEP in Kegworth.

170 kit is a total ripoff.. could buy a dt230 lanza engine and have it shipped for that much money... Just get another head and rebore 2mm oversize..

Only if you knew some one in Japan............

Dont forget that you could also get stung by customs for importing the engine (VAT or import duty).

I have an online friend who could send me an engine but the shipping is crazy so not worth it unfortunately.

If I wanted a grey import engine I'd have either the 200R or the 200WR because my DT200WR was quicker than a Lanza and they were both stock, plus FMF make a nice pipe for the WR200 which really wakes up the strangled stock motor.
