Most dt's with an aftermarket pipe don't pull in 6th.Its a common problem on lc 125 and tzr as well.Using the standard derestricted front pipe should clear this problem.
Put the snorkel back on cos its not a restriction
Ditch the big one front pipe.Every dt i have had with one of these makes it lose power

when i have the snorkal fitted it coughs and splutters when it gets to about 7 thousand rpm and wont rev freeley when its removed it runs fine

Goon ..

Jetting issues ??

The bikes setup to run with the Snorkle, it acts as a 1st stage filter to stops water / mud / $hite getting into the airbox...
Doesn't restrict the bike in any way [though bike sounds louder without it with the induction roar, another reason it's there !]

Don't doubt what yer sayin', but it's strange your bike wont run right with a snorkle ???

But would depend on how your setup - Pipe - Jetting - Pipe Reeds etc ...

People have been known to fit BIGGER jet, which just richens mixture & makes bike lose power..
Removing the air box / whatever in the inlet would Help airflow, and mebbe make a badly jetted bike, a bit better ..

You on standard Jetting ??

not to state the obvious but have you checked ur air filter aint clogged and when did it last have a plug change

other than that have you or anyone else ever changed the jet size as a slightly bigger jet would cause it to struggle with the snorkel on as it aint gettin enough air

air filter m8 the cone thing that sits in your air box lol

if they get clogged the bike struggles to suck air through the carb and having his snorkel removed may be increasing the airflow just enough to keep it running

if your unsure what i normally do is wash them in the sink with some warm soapy water then rinse, rub most of the water off with a towel and leave to dry naturally for the rest of the day
when its fully dry coat it in wd40 and pop it back in .....good as new

even if it looks clean you wouldent beleve the ****e that comes out of them

Big one front pipes are really poor.I'm surprised that they have sold as many as they have.
Good old stock pipe saves the day again.

I've got a 2007 DTX and bogs down when going into 6th. Its got a Big One end can and what looks like a none standard expanny. I bought it 2nd hand so not sure of make of expanny.

I was getting 75 out of it (on the clock) and have just done the speedo restriction which gets it through the gears quicker but its still bogging down when going into 6th.

I usually hit all gears when in a powerband so I'm right at the top of the rev range, going into 6th im usually just over 70 on the clock but it just dies down to around 50.

I'm wondering if the expanny is a Big One as well.

Not sure if snorkel is on or off, will check this weekend.

I've had a bike mechanic look at it and he's scratching his head, to be fair he admits he's used to dealing with big bikes. He seems to think it may be the front sprocket and asked me to check with my manual.

Check sprockets are standard (16/57)
A lower front or bigger back will cause quicker acceleration but loses top end

And when i had my 04 RE i was pulling about 75-80MPH just with the wire trick behind the headlight so double check that's earthed properly, i ran a wire from the connection box down to the battery just to make sure it was earthed out fully. It seemed better, but maybe it was just the placebo effect in action, then when I gutted the xpanny it just seemed to rev more freely, as if it was less choked up

My personal setup has been from:
Standard to
Big one rear and DEP expanny
Big one rear and Standard gutted xpanny

I much prefered the last setup due to me going off road and didn't want to dint the DEP
Plus the DEP was a b@$t@rd to keep clean lol

Yeah I got a 16/57 on aswell mate, always kept the back dep on, but when I had the front dep on mine use to be like this in top gear as soon as I put the standard front on (gutted) never dies down in top gear you know theres always pull there, and it seems looking at what everyone has put in this topic its true

Well, just gonna throw some personal experience out there. well, ive got the standard gutted expanny, and mine gets to 63 max in 5th, then pulls right the way in 6th till about 7k revs no issue. still only about 74 though. :/ When i put a dep spanny on, it would rev out in every gear, but as soon as i went into 6th, would die down. after attempting to ride it like this for a long time, my top end went and i had a cracked piston, asked the garage, they said that i either needed to upjet, or the spanny was the wrong model for my bike, not too sure what they mean by that though.
