Hello!!
Does anyone know how to make the rear brake.....brake?  i recently put new pads in cos the old ones were worn to nothing, they do sort of slow you down, if you press the pedal right down, but it really is useless.  I've tried bleeding the brakes a couple of times, to no effect.  Any other little tips or tricks you can use to get some pressure in there?

Any fluid leaks?
It could be blown seals in either the master cylinder or caliper
Leaking sealing washers at the banjo fittings on the line
Are you sure you've bled the system right through?

Does it squeeze at all when pedal pressed ??

put a thin shim twixt pad & disk to see ??

Jack back end up & feel resistance of brake when on ??

If No leaks ?  But moves, but poor pressure ?

Air in line ??

Weird Huh ?

if you didn't remove the lines when fitting the new pads there shoulden't really be any issues with air in the line unless when you compressed the piston it somehow disturbed the seal

when pads wear down the pistons have a habit of rusting at the top because that part isnt getting used im wondering when you compressed the piston the rust may have upset the seal and caused a slight leak

new pads in general take a while to bed in and if you check for leaks and find nothing it may be worth just giving it a few miles of heavy use before you start stripping the brakes down

one other thing check that the small clips where the brake pads sit into have gone back together right if there not installed correctly it could cause the pad to not sit correctly on the disk so when your pressing only half of the pad may be making contact

Hello people! Cheers for all your replies - is it just me or does there seem to be a lot more people using this site now? It's good anyway. On the way into work today back brake was ****e as usual, but on the way back it seemed to be much improved, I managed to get the back wheel to lock, which it hasn't been able to do in ages, this is with the pedal as far down as it'll go though.
The pads have been in quite a while now, so sure they're bedded in, and when I put them in I took the clips out and cleaned all the corrosion and crap off them and the caliper so it's all together right. One thing I was wondering- are you supposed to grease the inside of the clips so the pads can move more easily??
The brake pipe is good, a bit tatty, but there's definently no leaks anywhere. Could it be the pistons a bit corroded and isn't moving as easily?
Or it could be it just needed a bit of use after bleeding to get it back, I'm not sure though, cos it does this, the brake seems alright one day then the next it's bollocks. They're ****ing terrifying in the rain though, it's great!
One thing I've noticed is that if you just press the brake gently down, it barely squeezes, but if you give it a few pumps first and then hold it down it works a lot better.
****in brakes eh? I do like the design though, well easy to work on.
