Wiring on field bike
Permalink

Hello all,

I've inherited what i've been told is a 2003 DT125 but its had all the lights, indicators and switch gear removed so its just a field bike now. but, it still has most of the loom in and around the frame.
My question to you is what is the minimum requirements wiring wise, what can i get away with chopping out?

I understand we're gonna need the serveral bits like magneto, coil etc. can someone list all the bits i defo need to run it with out a battery.

I dont mind cutting, choping, crimping, soldering etc etc. just need to know what i need to keep connected.

Cheers

Chris

4 or 5 wires that run from the engine stator and connect into the cdi box then the orange wire from the cdi into the coil plus the black earth wire from the cdi to the earth point on the coil thats it m8

oh poo sorry m8 my fault for not reading your post properly

you need a battery and charging devices for an electronic powervalve unless you peg it open :(

Since it's just a field bike i'd just peg the powervalve open and get rid of as much as possible.

And podlee it's as if the bike still thinks the stands down, check that the side stand switch and wiring going to it are working and let us know

Yamaha added it as a safety precaution but it causes more bloody problems than it's worth so most people who live on the dangerous side just remove the switch altogether and connect or disconnect the wires (whichever the case may be) and leave it as that
