Hi
Ive got a DT125r 1998 and when i turn on the ignition the powervalve moves freely and  lines up with the hole in the casing however when i start the bike its moved about 2cm clockwise and just stays there even when i rev it high it doesnt move .

yes mate this is normal mine does the same i think this means the bike is restricted but ive derestricted the earth cable so i think ive done a bad earth...........
have you done the earth cable and if so where did you put the earth to

thats ok mate thats what were here for help each other we all have the same bikes end of the day lol.............. Any way ive just re earthed the cable and by the sounds of it your bike is restricted because mine did the same as yours b4 but now when i revv it it moves around clock wise untill about harf revvs and thn it moves back anti clock wise abit so my advice to you is if you havent already done the earth cable do that you can get info on this site for that but any way behind the right side pannel at the front there is a bolt going in to the frame thats where i earthed mine and it works fine (DO NOT SAND FRAME!!!!!) should get alot more power and a deeper sound
and your have a topend of about 85 maybe more depends on bike and rider hope i helped if not just let me know p.s. u will feel a differance in power if done correct

WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY THE VALVE MOVES TO SHOW IT WORKING AND THEN WHEN YOU START THE ENGINE IT WILL MOVE AROUND CLOCK WISE AND SIT THERE AND THEN WHEN YOU REVV IT,,, IT SHOULD MOVE EVEN FURTHER ROUND CLOCK WISE ONLY A LITTLE BIT KEEPING THE REVVS LOW THEN IF YOUR BIKE IS DERESTRICTED IT WILL MOVE BACK ANTI CLOCK WISE WHEN IT PASSES ABOUT 5000 RPMS TAKE YOUR P.V. CASE OFF TO SEE WHAT IS GOING ON

I believe it has already been derestricted by the previous owner it reaches 70-75 at 7k i havnt pushed it harder than that .........but runs like ****e at low revs (the bike hates going slow) it feels horrible hahaha Someone who looked at it said it was 4 stroking instead of 2 .but dont really know what he means by that.
How many mpg are you getting?  im only getting 50miles out of a tank without reserve

lol yea mate got it sorted and running sweet and then today its stoped working altogether
lol p i s s e d but i think i need to clean the valve. any way youre problem erm what year is your bike. so youre power valve when you turn youre key on the valve should move left then back round to the right then to the left agen and sit there then when you start the engine it should go to the right (closed) it help it start then when you revv the bike a little bit it should move a little bif furver to the right then if you revv it over about 5 - 6ooo rpm's it will move back around to the left only if its derestricted............ is this what youre bike dose if what is it doing

Thats pretty much whats happening but i think i need to take the valve out and clean and grease coz when i reduce the revs the bike splutters so im wondering if the powervalve is sticking a little and not opening and closing smoothly as when i tried to turn it by hand it was really stiff

yes mate most defo your problem as this is quite common in 2 strokes as when you cruse it it does not burn properly causing carbon build up and that is exactly what has happened to mine i saw it the other day when i did my topend rebuild but i was stupid to not clean it when i had it all apart T W A T ! now i have to buy new gaskits and strip it all again pistake me gaskits are only 4 days old lol screwing lol

how many miles does your piston have on it they recomend change it after 12000 miles so if i was you i would do this when you have it all apart only if needed better safe that sorry it cost me 120 quid for all the stuff i needed

wow ive just taken my power valve out and its covered in carbon all over its got like 2 2and a harf mm of black **** damm thats probs why da thing dont work lol f u k im hoping that when its clean it starts to work agen but i have a feeling it wont

Duno bout the piston coz ive only had the bike about 4 months and its got 16500 miles on the clock but its probably been changed before as the guy before me did alot of work on it...........
Well its going into the repair shop on monday so i will see what they say about it .but i need 2 new tyres and ive got clutch slip and cluth drag so i think i need a new clutch !!!! so money is gona be tight to get a new piston aswell
So are you saying that its best to run at high revs even if it means going down the box by 1 gear

Dont think my powervalve will be that bad only replaced the o rings and seal on it about 2 months ago but you never know

Let me know how you get on with yours
Is your powervalve pegged open or is it operated by the servo

yea fair play mate. yea well keep it highish in the revvs but not ragging it bere in mind 2 strokes love to revv its a fact but also the more u revv it the more were it gets so its kind of one ov them id say shift gears between 6.000 to 10000 rpms but it depends on ridding style
glad to help hope it al goes wel 4 you . yea ive got my power valve out at the moment socking in petrol and im going to clean it and put it back together tomurrow hopfully it will work again.... I dont agree with pinning the valve open ive tryed it and i think it makes the bike run poo lol. when your bike is derestricted go on a long road and take it up to 70 - 75 it your bike shoud get there with no risks at all as im always going to these levels and it should clean your engine up a bit... p.s. it ya bikes restricted it might vibarate a bit or may even take harf an hour to get there but do be scared it willl be fine my mate has a 06 dtx and he seems to think hes had just under 90 and its only get the earth derestriction but be worned it willl revv all the way untill it blows so do go O.T.T LOL

I cant go O T T coz it doesnt rev past 9000 and its true about the vibrations at about 70mph at 7000 revs it vibrates so much i caqn see in my mirrors coz everything is blurry lol

I was gona say the other day i always thought 2 strokes sounded tinny but mine sounds like a tank !!!

lol yea i no its crazy yea my power valve is all cleaned up and back in and it still dont work lol p i s s e d i got a new motor for it and then found out my old one does work lol its deeped that i expected all conections working fine power valve is fine im really confused what it is. my next guess is the engine control system the big black box under the tank with three conecters going out of it and if it isant that i give up lol and the price of one of those
s h i t well a power valve motor is 300 quid yea fuk i dont wanna know the price of one of these box's.....................
so you think you need a smaller jet then have you get your bbike in the shop yet

apparenty if u derestrict the front standard pipe and gut the rear it sounds quite nice and have same performance as dep pipe not sure tho

Its all expense isnt it !!!
So what excactly is wrong with your bike then give me some details 2 heads are better than 1

yeah i think i need a smaller jet in as someone had modified the air filter box to compensate for the bigger jet that is in so ive got a 240 to put in and i want to make the airbox standard again

no not yet goes in the shop 2morra

I already have full dep exhaust so front end is already derestricted but still sounds like a 4 stroke lol

LOL OK erm if you go in engine maintance and go on E.C.U OR E.M.S IVE put a post up about my problem and to be honist i really dont have any ideas what it could be apart from the C.D.I unit

Well could today get any worse.................
Was due to take my bike to the garage went down only to find some b a s t a r d has put a screwdriver into my ignition and screwed that up
Then tried to start bike and it wouldnt go changed the plug and gave up after 20 mins of trying my leg was like jelly
So had to push the bike to the shop and now im waiting for the phonecall to tell me how much its gona cost and what needs doing !!!!!

No insurance wont cover it im only 3rd party f & f
I live in a flat so no garden or garage so i have to park it in a carpark but there was no way they were getting it anyway as its alarmed and has a massive chain on it

I assume they were just been ass holes lol

Still waiting to here about the cost and repairs from the garage................how u gettin on with yours ?

no luck yet mate gunner order a cdi on friday and im stripping my bike down to the frame and im going to respray the frame and clean all the parts get it looking new agen lol its lookig sorry 4 its self by the way i dont recomend doing derestriction under speedo because i recon this is shorting the cdi and causing bad electrical problems

My bike doesnt have the restrictor in the speedo so no worries there .................how much is the cdi gona cost ?

Well i finally got my bike back but im £200 lighter lol but runs sweet so im happy about that but now ive got coolant leaking out of the expansion tank ???????

GOOD GOOD glad to hear its runnig sweet again erm i found cdi for 50 quid so thts gd and im respraying my frame tango orange or candy gold not 2 sure and i wanna get all black plastics and get custom graphics + yz rear shock + linkage and yz front fork springs i havent got a clue if it will work but theres only 1 way to find out init cant wait just need sum fukin dolla lol...
where abouts is coolent coming out from is it the coolent bottle at the back right of the bike (under exhaust) have a look for damaged tubes or cracks in bottle if you cant find any try taking it all off fill it with water that might make it easyer to find.... so what was rong with your bike for it to cost you 200 quid

WOW tango orange !!! thats a bit bright but it might work well with the black
My mate used to have a tzr with black and flurescent colours and it looked amazing!
Well i got 2 new tyres there was 2 broken wires and the steering and clutch needed adjusting and they were supposed to fix the coolant leak ??
Its coming from the overflow pipe so that can only mean 2 things too much coolant or major air in the system
Im away now to see if i can sort it out?

ok cheers mate i hopeing it looks good i recon it will, ive stripped my bike down all the back end just got the gngine out to day need to take forks off and some other little things on the frame and me damm rear brake cilender thing is stuk on there as i stripped me allen bolts
s h i t t y F U K I N chinese bolts crap metal o well il drill em out and get sum proppa bolts
and tomorrow im going to give all the parts a good clean and sand my frame (well im probs going to sand blast it a lot easyer.
i had a look on your otheer post and im not really to sure what your problem is
when i did my topend i forgot to put any coolent in the rad OOOPS!!! LOL the overheat light come on and i had to push me bike home lol owell sorted it in the end then me P.V. STOPED
so yea hopefully it is the cdi fingers crossed

did you get your parts ordered and the bolts drilled out.
I snapped a bolt in the cylinder head and i had to drill it out it was an absolute night mare

lol yea its a B I T C H when that happens lol yea i got my cdi ordered i think it will be here on wednesday and still need to clean all the parts job 4 tomurrow and getting my frame sandblasted on wednesday aswel and then im going to be spraying it my self not 100% what colour yet tho so im thinking it will be done in about 1and a harf to two weeks hoping all goes smooth
so have you sorted that leak yet and bin 4 a ride or you not been on it yet

Ive not tested it yet i did run it for about 20 mins and there was no leak but im back to work on monday so i will soon find out lol

just go to user details the avatars then upload an avatar (eg a pic from your pc) but it has to be within the size limits so u may need to resize it first once you upload it u need to click on your pic until its highlighted in blue then click on select avatar

hi there this is born2race so how did your bike go today is it sweet or u not bin on it yet?
yea got my frame srtiped 2 day cleaned all my parts and paint stripping it tomurrow ive desided to go with a bright taango orange frame and spraying some other parts orange sawel like rear foot pegs rad holder and engine mounts and other thing like that cant wait to see it finished hopfully it will look sick fingers crossed lol and i want to get a neon undeer engine engine but not sure if the heat will melt the neon lol il be taking some pics while im doing it and finished product and ill put them up on this post if you want?let
