good imformative post, this is the reason i thought id have a go at an sm conversion after seeing this, i started out using this guide but come stuck now iv now found out if you want to use the tri spoked tdr 91 mag wheels you also need the spindles the dtr spindles wont go in the rims or through the spacers
what about changing the bearings for a bigger I/D so a larger spindle can go through? you'll still need to measure for a shortened front spacer mind, i had to take off about 6mm from my dt spacer to fit the TDR hub
i thought maybe that would work to m8 but the spacer that goes on the rear wheel beetween the wheel an caliper bracket its inner doesnt allow the dt spindle through an then i tried the dts rear spacer but that doesnt allow for outer edge of the spacer to fit the in the wheel hub an also holds the rear caliper bracket off angle to where it should be sat. as for the front wheel iv not started on that yet the spindles the same again thinner those tdr wheels above for sale they have the wider spindle like the dtr ones
Even though the spindles the same thickness for my TDR wheel I still had to have one made that was 13mm longer to get my TDR wheel to fit further inside the left fork thread., can't you have a spacer knocked up that will fit?, theres a lad in the Yamaha owners club callede Wayno, can do that sort of thing and at a reasonable price, he knocked me up some custom stainless studs for my other barrell that had been helicoiled, did a good job too, thats if you havent got an engineering firm near you, but living in Stoke as you do I doubt that.
I am going to fit dtx wheels on my dt 125 re. Do i need the front fork ?. Or could i just change the brake dics on the front wheel with the old DT 125 RE disc ?. I immagine the reason i need the front fork from a dtx is because of the dtx having other brakes ?.
And damnit i see u say i need speedo cable and speedo drive too..
I got the wheels swingarm and rear brake cheaply. So im not gonna ask this guy for anything more. atleast not today. Ill might offer him some quids for the rest of the parts if i really cant do without them
