rear dep silencer keeps catching on fire

Whenever i i give my bike a good thrashing normally down my local bypass on the way home from work when i stop to and go to put the bike away the silencer has smoke billowing out of it the other day it was doing for about 10 mins i ending up spraying a small mist of water into it to put it out i was thinking of repacking the silencer to see if this helps has anyone else experienced this smilesmilesmile

I think it needs a good clean, Somethink may of got into your exhaust that shouldnt have. Could be a spider or somethink stupid.

It could also be its running too Rich or too lean and either spitting petrol or oil down the exhaust and it catching fire.

did you ever find out y it was smokeing just my has started doing it gets hotter than the front pipe after a good blast

I replaced it with a new one and it was fine.

Fire makes everything better, i would have left it and just roared as i rode a flaming bike with heavy metal playing.
