does anyone know whether a cdi from a 96 tdr 125 will fit a 96 dt125r? if so are the connections exactly the same?
my bikes not pulling past 55 and has not got a carb problem and everything else has been checked so gonna try changing the cdi

Simon you need to cut your expansion chamber open and remove all of the catalytic converter and then re-weld it together.

then get a dep or big one silencer because that has a restriction in it aswell .. first do the speedo restriction :)

Haynes dont cover the TDR, plus the TDR was electric start so could use the TZR-R style engine and electrics.

its a 96 model hence no cat but have previously cut the exhaust open just to check for any sort of restriction and the pipe is clean, not much carbon build up either.the carbs been cleaned and up jetted and down jetted and then back to original size to see if we could get it to run right.
the bikes only done 5,500 miles genuine! seems like an electrical fault,reg/rec is spot on so gonna try the cdi
it ticks over and runs fine but just no power, runs like a derestricted 50cc
im noticing that many folk on here seem to have the same prob with no clear solutions
even my local bike shop who ive known for 20 years and have had many dt through their shop are totally stumped! ive owned tzr and dt's and this one is a mystery! its also a uk bike.very strange

compression is superb, theyve tested that + the bike is in very very good condition, one owner etc engine sounds as sweet as a nut! just lacks power,i know how these go when deristricted and the dt engine is one of the best engines for a compromise between power and reliability, weathers turning crappy now and im a soft fair weather rider so at least ive got all winter to tinker, gonna make sure and clean every connection on it
