speedo restriction problem

i have a 02 dtr 125 i went to deristrict the speedo by the reed switch i think behind the speedo clock but someone has allready done this they have just cut it off and twisted the 2 wires together iv,e read up on this site how to do it and it says just pop off the oblong block and do not cut or disconnect the 2 wires
my dt only revs upto 7rpm sometimes 8rpm but thats only in 3rd bike will not go any quicker than 55 but splutters on pull of and just after powervalve has kicked in
allso the pulley for power valve has been removed so the powervalve is in 1 postion constantly about 3/4 mm under the exhaust port not sure it it needs to be flush when you look up the exhaust port
any help will be much appreciated
thanks paul

I think your problem is all to do with your powervalve, People think removing the cable and keeping it fully open think that it will make it quicker wich it wont. Just buy a new cable on ebay and connect it up.

When you turn on your ignition can you hear the servo turning 3 times (Only turns twice if you turned the ignition on then off then back on without turning the engine on)

im actually missing the part inside the power valve case the part the 2 cables go on to all other parts of the power valve are there when ignition is switched on i can hear the power valve i have just found out that the bike is not geting enough air the snorkel pipe has been taken off the top of air box but still not enough air so i have took off the black bottle that is on side of air box on the left and bolts onto the frame
and now bike is rapid so its lack of air but bike will not pass 9rpm but goes upto about 60/65 now
but im now wondering why is the bike lacking air

have you covered the hole left by the black bottle with anything? leaving it blank is a real problem, will be sucking in **** and going straight into the engine!!! thats past the air filter.

btw i had exactly the same problem, its the powervalve. Get all the powervalve parts and get it back together and functional, mine was only a couple of mm out of line and it was limited to 60, pain in the ass.
get the valve right n you will be flying
