DTX front brake on DTR?

After almost crashing yesterday i was wondering if there was a way to fit the front brake of a DTX on a DTR without having the supermoto front wheel, obviosly i would need the DTX forks, disc and caliper, after i got all this down i was like hmm can the DTX disc actually fit onto the DTR wheel?

so my question is, will a DTX disc fit onto a DTR wheel?

yeh please do craig, my tutor has the parts to make them so might be worth me having some made by him, will be cheaper also.....i hope.

its a pity there arent any aftermarket kits for the DT, i even found a kit for the peugeot speedfight as if they need em lol they barely do 45 at best.

take 2 weeks-ish to come, made up individually for each bike order.

looks mint, sent you a pm..

haha about a speedfight not stopping, my mate was going about 50 around a corner, had no chance of stopping and smashed straight into a parked car

btw speedfights have braided hoses standard.. the only good thing about them!

LOL and the 50 does 50 and the 100s do 65.. I know cos I had one biggrin

braided hoses make a little difference.. cheap option is to get racing pads + braided hoses..

you could fit a dtx disc on a dtr hub if you made a spacer.. youd need a bracket on the forks too for the dtr or better still dtx caliper (which is use on alot of bikes!)

but that would be gay a 300mm disc on a 21" wheel. go for sm conversion (expensive) or get new pads + hose. wavy disc is another option.....

my betting is most of the peeps that moan about **** brakes on the dts dont understand that every now and then chcuking some fresh brake fluid in the lines and flushing out the old **** can make a big diffrence , that said though i know what you guys mean thats why i wi be sorting a 17 inch 3 spoked rim and 320mm disc jsut to be on the safe side lol

Never had any trouble with my old dt brakes so not sure whats going on here, when I first got it serviced etc I said to the garage make sure you tighten the brakes etc, after that they worked absolutely fine, I mean of course going from 60/70mph to 0 did take a few metres to stop but then that would be normal right? smile.gif

@Benneyboy, i changed the brake fliud at the same time replaced the pads(about 2 months ago)

oh yeh i found a way to do it, very expensive though, would be easier to supermoto it tbh, basicly you need the forks caliper and disc from the DTX and then you need to buy these from ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-DT125-X-DT-125-X-WHEELS-18-21-OFF-ROAD-SET_W0QQitemZ300350360406QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item45ee46cb56, not worth it imo.

+ you could have the X front hub laced into the R 21 inch rim if you wanted the bigger diameter brake / old size wheel for off-roading - trouble is you would still need the X forks to make it all fit.

not cheap unless you know people or have access to tools... Ive seen loads of botches but never a good bracket.... supermoto it for like £300 and sell off stock parts to recover some of the cost and you'd have a 300mm front disc and the brembo twinpots then get braided hoses.. I got that setup and the front brake is lethal!! Almost if not exactly the same setup on a big thumper supermoto like the ccm...

Or consider getting a batch of 5-10 made up and see if you can make a profit out of selling them.. people will buy them cos the brembo is a nice upgrade!
