Heat shield for plastics
Permalink

hey guys, just want to ask your advice on something. Decided to replace my two front radiator scoops as faded, changing from blue to black too. I'm also replacing the right rear plastic cover over the exhaust as it has become badly melted. I have gone through my local yamaha dealer, the thing is though they wanted to charge an extra £15 to add in the heat shielding to stick in the cover. This sheilding is already made to fit but it seems quite expensive, could i just buy some and apply it on there myself like this:

Yup , i got that tape from an electricity shop £5 a roll and you can layer it if you like . Yamaha actually advised I do that rather than buy their overpriced tat .

maplins sell that tape too even cheaper I think

Really Yamaha even suggested that, well that's cool thanks mate, I was only in maplins yesterday too, it's close by so i'll take a trip there tomorrow. Going to replace all the tape on the bike as is all starting to peel off, is that stuff alright as heat sheilding then?
