Didnt know where to put this one,was going to put it in "how to" but nothing has been posted in their since the 60's. What is the best way to SAFELY change the handgrips. I pressume to get them off you just cut/rip them off. Somebody told me to use some lube to get the new ones properly on but how do they stay on without slipping off. Im thinking some Evostick glue or silicon or similar but obviously i cant when ive used lube. Anyone done this???
ta mate, when people sell after market ones that say fit all dt models is this the case or does the tube for the throttle change size over the different models.
Best way is cut the old ones off, clean the bars up, then a good liberal spraying of your missus' (or yours if you're a bit soft) favourite hairspray. The hairspray when wet acts as a good lubricant to help them slide on easily, then dries to be really tacky and glue-like. If you ever need to change them again, the hairspray washes off real easy.
Hairspray is your friend!

Soak the grips in boiling hot water then dry them off quickly, then with the hairspray or wd40 applyed slip them on, but you have to be quick. If you use wd40 then dont put too much on, i did mine three times untill i got the amount just right, also one of the grips is bigger than the other one thats the one to fit the throttle, yeah just cut the old grips off :)

Havent long changed mine mate, i slit a hole in my original grips used wd40 and abit of elbow grease to yank them off (in case i wanted them back on which i might seeing as rubber grips better) these are worth a look

The ones ive got on now knocked them on with hammer to stretch them and used hairspray, f**k me it does the job, im a pretty strong lad and i can tell you they dont come off with that **** ;)
