Many people on here seem to think that there is a need to re-jet but i disagree, even the people at DEP said that after testing there isn't a need to re-jet.
And tbh i prefer my original expansion can thats been de-restricted, you dont get as much of a powerband or the amazing sound of the DEP but if you know the right place you can have the CAT out and re-welded up in about an hour or so and they'll only charge you £10
Plus the original is alot thicker so if you go offroad (i doubt it since your SM lol) it withstands a hell of a lot more dints then the DEP would
Also if you give your original a thick paint job it wont rust, where as the dep will rust within the first few weeks and your constantly cleaning the surface rust off which is also a pain.

Just my opinions really, but in summery.. No need to re-jet unless your pissing about with the air-fuel ratio IMO. Steve

Hey hairdoo, I got a full dep on my dtx with no regrets. Noticed improvements straight away, I found acceleration to be much more aggresive especially when the pv opens up. Standard front pipe seems lethargic compared to dep.

I havn't re-jetted my carb.

I haven't seen any rust, although my bike never sees any wet weather, only sunshine and dry roads and abit of autosol from time to time :)

I cannot comment on a de-restricted standard although I agree with gincat, it would be a much cheaper option if you can find someone to cut it open and remove the cat, based on what has been said on here the performance gain is still welcoming.

Sadly the places i took mine to didn't seem to have the time to do it, got fed up waiting in the end so bought me dep.

I agree with you about the original deristricted front pipe i,ve had to repaint mine but i put plenty of layers on it so i,m hoping it should be ok through the winter months i like the broad power band you get from the it on mine it kicks in about 6500rpm and tails off about 10500rpm when does the power band on the dep kick cheers
