think around 6 quid is around what you'll be looking at for a pair of seals, providing the chrome is good on your stantions (pitting will just ruin new seals you put on, though there is a araldite trick if it comes to that)
fitting the seals can be done without taking the whole fork leg apart, from memory you will need circlip pliers to get the circlip out of the top, then theres a metal washer under that then you need to pick out the old seal (found a bradawl made light work of that) and put the new one on and reassemble in reverse order, would get the fork oil out first personally and replace with fresh oil after fitting the seals

Look in the workshop manual on the front page. I dont think theres a measurement, its by level.

there is a measurement in that manual, thought it was quite high but cross referenced it with other manuals and its correct, theres probably a measurement for if its just been drained and another if its been completely stripped and cleaned

Gonna be doing my fork seals in the next day or 2. Do they have dust seals aswell as the oil seals and if they do did you fit both sets of seals?

Im assuming these are the right fork oil seals for my 2001 bike!!

doesn't have to be yam but go for a decent make, if you have gators you probably won't have dust seals

check the yamaha manual on the front page of this site for the exact measurement, think its almost half a litre on each leg, may depend on year of bike though

you dont need to strip the forks to do the seals. slacken off the top nut while its still on the bike (makes life easier). then just pop the seals off with a old screwdriver , be carefull not to damage the stantions . then just put it back together with the new seals then top up forks with oil
