Decided today was a nice day to get my seat re-covered, as the old on was starting to look a little bit f*cked, as you'll see in the photos. The bike is still a work in progress, but I'll show you what i started with, and where I am up to now.
I got my DT about a month ago now, and it still looks a little bit battered and bruised, but my shopping list currently includes new plastics all round, which I should be getting at the end of the month :) so its sort of a running project. I'm intending on making it a SM in the end, but as of the moment this is where I am up to.
Put a new Big One expansion on it as the DEP one it came with was rusty and had a big hole in it, removed the old hand guards as the plastic had flashed and was brittle, I snapped them off lol. Removed the little carrying frame thing on the back, changed the rear tyre from a nasty budget jobbie to an Avon Distanzia, and this is where I am currently up to!

With thanks to your thread Seiki! I chose not to trim the seat down like you did, I'm still very happy with the look though! If I do decide to do it in the future, I've got enough material left over to do it again.
Next task is to buy new plastics all round, and then decals. Need to get the left overs of the stickers off the swing arm, trying to find something to take it off that won't take the paint with it.

Yo, what did ya use to cover your seat with? And how did you get it to go round the bend so well? I've bought a new seat cover, but I can't get it on for the life of me, i've tried over and over and over but cant seem to get it on straight.. what did you use to keep the cover on too? staple gun?
I bought a 1m x 1m sheet of 1.5mm thick neoprene (the stuff they make scuba suits or wetsuits from) and cut it in half, then tacked it in place with a staple gun and pretty much went from there. you basically need to make sure you stretch the cover tight, i started off with the tank end of the seat, then the back, then the sides. I was cutting it down as i went around basically. There are some good guides on youtube if you search 're-covering seat'

I actually ordered it on-line, check it out here: http://www.ewetsuits.com/acatalog/Neoprene-Sheets.html
You get just over 1m x 1m sheet, and it costs £24.28 posted, if you get the 1.5mm sheet, I wouldn't recommend any thicker, I think it would be an arse to work with!
