Hi mate, I have recently fitted some maxxis Maxxcross IT tyres on mine, they got really good reviews for budget enduro tyres. There not to bad on the road, got to be a bit carefull in the wet but there awsome off road and in the mud.
I use mine for mainly off road at the weekend with minimal road work in between and I expect they will do a good 4000 miles maybe more if not used on the road much.

They also make the dt look so much better IMO smile

Here is the link to the tyres on ebay and couple of pics of mine.

I'd second the Pro-IT's - I've used them on two bikes now for trail riding (inclkuding my recently acquired DTR) and they've been great.

I run mine at about 18psi front and rear to give good traction off road - bit squirmy at 45mph and above though on tarmac.

I got my last set from www.mxbits.com for a decent price and good service too.

If you're going off road, I'd also recommend getting the heavy duty tubes while you're at it, and rim locks if not already fitted.

No thts a reasonable question m8 , rim locks are theses things that bolt in thru ur rims n clamp the tyres in place to stop the rim spinning in the tyre under hard acceleration and u have them on the front too for hard braking which prevents u from ripping the inner tube valve clean off , mainly used for off road because normally u would run lower pressures in the tyres for a wider foot print to gain more grip, so wen running lower pressures the tyre bead is not as tight on the rim, I wouldn't bother getting some if u don't go off road coz u are running higher tyre pressures and it will seriously make ur bike shake like **** at high road speeds, if u look at ur rims u will see an extra hole opposite the tyre valve hole , that's wer they bolt thru ; )

If you're not going off road, don't get a set of enduro tyres on at all, never mind rim locks, as they're awful on tarmac and you'll end up on your a**e at the first corner on a damp day - the massive knobbles give very little contact patch with the road.

I was considering rim locks but not really worth it unless your going to run the tyres below 15psi and the dt hasn't really got the power to warranted them, I've never had any probs without them, always ran them on the ktm 250exe though lol.

maxxis all the way mate had 2 sets on dt now last for ages still good on the road aswell i have used hxtra heavy duty tubes and rim locks just because mine gets use on alot of green lanes so i thought it would be a good idea as have had trouble with crappy innertubes in the past.i will be putting a set of maxxis on my ktm when that needs tyres aswell well worth buying mate :)
