OK so I decided to clean up my DEP. Here is a pic of how bad it looks:
To get at it properly I decided I needed to take it off, so proceeded to remove the plastics up the right side of the bike.
I'd been having a dripping oil problem but could never find the source. It wasn't that bad so I assumed it was just from the exhaust tip.
I removed the plastic to reveal this bad boy:
Oil everwhere!! OK I am not sure if the oil is leaking from the small joint there on the pipe or if it is dripping the whole way from the tip. Dripping from the tip doesn't seem likely but I am looking for an opinion here.
Or maybe this is a common problem.
So I went and got some rachets to remove the exhaust but the head were too big to fit into the spaces at the bolts.
How to you guys remove your exhaust?? Also will I need to replace a gasket when I remove the exhaust?
It's a nice day as you can see in the photos so I stuck everything back on and now I'm away for a spin on the bike instead :)
I use a spanned to get them bolts of or a extension bar with a rachet. Used to have this problem on my ra but thought it was where I didn't have the rubber connector. You could try getting a rubber bit for yours and see if that helps
Looks like somone had welded the 2 pipes together? Thts prob wer it's leaking from m8 at the ****ty weld, For the front jus use a long extension bar on ur ratchet and yea best to replace the gasket on the header m8
I picked up an £8 socket set from homebase and have never looked back
It came with a 3 inch extension bar which was ideal for getting the ratchet up to the exhaust studs.
With regards to the oil, you could try putting some exhaust paste on the joint for a better seal, it's what i do with mine instead of having a rubber bung.
Edit: ah man that is a dirty dep too lol, clean it up then autosol the pants off it :)

Found a wee pipe wrench out in the shed and got the nuts off with that.. size 12 if anyone is wondering.
I was thinking of wire brushing and then sanding the dep to get the rust off, then fine wet and dry and polish the crap outta it... is this a good idea to use the wire brush and sand paper?
What i found works really well with autosol. Stick one of those rubber/latex type gloves on your hand, and then using your hand smear autosol all over the chamber. Leave it for about 15min and then wipe off, i just used kitchen towel. Wipe all of it off, and then buff up.
