your better off putting that money towards a bike license, unless you can find a sm setup really cheap :)

lol why do people keep saying that ? Might aswell skip the Dt alltogether and get a full license from the get go.

It depends on what you want and what you're willing to pay.

A license costs £150 at most, lessons are what are expensive and arent needed for everyone. in fact its cheaper to fail 3 times.

I know someone who paid £200 for the entire DTX setup, I paid £250

Some like to spend on modifications and some dont mate I guess. Whats good for you isnt for another etc biggrin SM wheels arent just so people can go 'oh wow your bike looks good' they serve a purpose too.

I dont go offroad so I dont see the point in having offroad wheels. The fact that Yamaha made a SM version and the parts can interchange is a plus. If someone joins a DT site asking how to SM their bike ...

It's the same with getting a license I suppose. I'd say you're better off putting the money towards a bigger bike etc and skip the lessons, other people will think differently.

 LOL

I'm gona SM my bike. Mainly because I love SM style bikes, and this is my road machine, I have a 250 crosser to ride offroad so I've got that base covered, and I would be more inclined to throw the DTR around in corners if I had some nice wide sticky SM tyres to keep me from chewing asphalt. :) I've priced up just the wheels, to be built with SMPro rims, stainless spokes and the original DTR hubs, at around 225 quid a wheel. This is just the price for the wheel to be built and laced to the hub, obviously after this you need to buy new tyres!

It isn't a cheap option I know, but its form for function, I don't do any dirt riding on this bike, its all town and commute, and I want to go sideways. Basically...

Im doing it mate you need:

DT125X wheels + disc's
OLD spindle and spacer's
OLD standard DTR fork's
BUT you need to have a front caliper bracket made up so you can use you standard forks!

Im having one made up know for 20 quid.

Hope this helped you all out
