How to test if a speedo drive works ?

How can you tell if the speedo drive will work when off the bike ? is there any way ?

there is indeed m8 , look at the drive at the side thats up against the hub u will see a big shim type looking thing with 3 little tabs sticking out around the edge, if u get a skinny flatblade screw driver and turn the shim looking thing with the tabs , by one of the tabs u should see that it drives a larger gear underneath the the bit ur turning ,which drives another gear at the side, wer the cable goes in , if that bigger gear is turning the smaller gear then ur 90% sure its working ,if u need pics i can get some up as iv recently cleaned my one out to try n fit to my yz wheel

I did the way you put the speedo cable in aswell and turn the wheel and of course the speedo cable bit inside turns around aswell ok brad mate did that make sense to you hahahaha

My way , very amusing too! things you need > 1x Jack up lift stand , 1x Mountain bike/BMX , strong arms lol joking
Pop her up on the stand with front wheel off the ground flip your pushbike over and touch back wheel of push bike to front wheel of DT and peddle like blazers with ya arm , if your trip counter goes up your speedo works :D

Yes but what if it's the cable that has broke. Or the speedo. The speedo drive could be fine.
