Just like to say hi to all forum members in here. Have recently bought a 1992 dt125r as a project bike, it's in a million pieces at the minute after I've stripped her down ready to shotblast the frame so I can spray it, and the swinging arm is going for powder coating. No doubt I'll be picking a few members brains for info, but I'll hopefully be able to help others in here by putting stuff on here as the project gets on the way. Cheers Nev

Do not powdercoat the swingarm imo, it ends up costing loads in replacing the bits

Seiki, I'm not to sure what you mean by "replacing the bits" I'll need the swing arm bushes and spindle anyroad, as I had to chop the swing arm away from the engine mount, due to the spindle seizing inside the bush tubing, I also need both nylon chain guides as they were knackered and well worn, the suspension linkage has been taken off it so I can clean, spray then bolt back on after swingarm has been powdercoated. I recently had my Rieju swingarm powdercoated, came back lovely job, built it back up, and touch wood, no problems with that. I will however have to block off the needle bearings on the swingarm with largewashers and a bolt each side, because if I didn't the powdercoaters will cover everything in sight.

When I did mine, the oven screwed all my bearings, seals and almost the collar. It's nmot the paint you have to worry about it's the oven mate

If you've done it once and got away with it then it might work again I suppose, just a warning

Ah right I'm with you now, must admit the other swingarm I had done just had rubber bushes and no bearings, I take it the needle bearings are a pig to drift out, if I need to replace them, that is?

Lol, they dunna call you dangerous Dave for nowt then ey ;) am thinking of packing with sh*tloads of copper grease, (the penny washers oughta seal it all in) better than dry if they're gunna get some heat, if it goes pear shaped, and I do have to drift them out, I'll try pressing them out with a long reach socket and my big bench vice, if that dunna work you got a walk thru on youtube Dave? lol

I think eventually I bought the machanic a drink and he pressed them out and back in for me. Putting them back in is worse cause the inner rollers can pop out the bearing easily
