Big one pipe problem
Permalink

Hey guys,

Well the old standard pipe on my DT re123 was dead, I chemical metal'ed the old one but its not holding up. Being a student I couldnt really afford the DEP so opted for the BIG ONE silencer.

Ive just taken off the old pipe, and found that the new BIG ONE bore pipe dosent fit onto or into the expansion pipe.

Now the advert I purchased the silencer off from ebay, said that it will fit all models, DTR, DTRE etc from 1989 up to 2007. Is this true, or are then different diamter bore pipes for certain models of DT as it plainly dosent fit, or is there an adaptor or rubber I need to buy (Although I know that wont work)

Heres the ad, and my bike is a 2004 DT RE 125

My RE expanny wouldn't take the BIG ONE rear end can, i don't know what year the BIG ONE was supposed to be for but it was exactly the same size of the expanny where they both connect together.
I just put the piece of material whatever was in the standard exhaust over the gap where they connected and jubulee clipped at either side so it wouldn't move around
Worked fine for me..

Oh and I also tried it with abit of rubber which was supposed to be for exhausts but it still burnt it..

Thanks for the responses guys,
Ive got the standard/stock expansion pipe on, but the pipe that comes from that is the exact same size as the bore pipe on the BIG ONE silencer, so there is no way to attatch the two. I just want to know if ive been sold an incorrect silencer for my bike, or if im missing a part/adapter that will make it fit.
To be honest im pretty sure its just the wrong pipe, but the box it came in listed it as a DT R exhaust :S
Thanks,

Welsh

Well, I just had an email back off of the company I bought the exhaust from, and they said I purchased it from one of there old ebay adds which was incorrectly labeled, so no, the exhaust will not fit my DT.

They offered me a full refund and are even sending out parcelforce to pick it up for me. So the question is, what exhaust end can should I get, one that will fit the standard DT 125RE expanny?

Mate, splash the cash and get a DEP mate, much better than the big one.
