Any tips on polishing up plastics. I got a full set in black off Ebay (2007 RE) to replace my damaged, badly painted and part missing blue set that came on the bike. They are in pretty good condition, no graphics on them but they are a bit dull and quite a few light scrathes, nothing too deep really.
What method and products can you use on the plastics to polish out the scratches and just brighten them up. Obviously on painted panels you can use a cutting polish (like T-Cut) but i think this would make the plastics more dull wouldn't it?
And any idea how to remove tank graphics, they seem to be lacquered over? Is it a case of sanding your tank and repainting it or is there a clever way of getting them off? Cheers for any ideas.

Just a normal polish or a cutting polish like T-Cut. I was thinking a T-Cut type product would scuff up the surface of the plastic and make it duller or does it shine up again like painted panels on a car do after using T-Cut??

erm, i just used polish then wax, cant remember what, think it was like an all purpose for plastics. comes out ok, not amazing though.
As for the tank plastics. if you want the graphics off, you have to either take it down too metal and paint it, or just leave it, why mine is still on. :)
bought my re with panels which had been proper faded by the sun, if you check my bike in the picture section your see that back to black works and t-cut to an extent :) and that was some cheap back to black which restored them the best
then take a heat gun (paint stripper gun ) and VERY VERY LIGHTLY heat the panels ,this will reshine them and take out any whitish bend marks in the plastics
Yeah the bike Is gone now but it's useful info, I reckon everyone will want to polish up their plastics at some stage. Worth making the thread a STICKY?
