Need help Advice on KTM Lc-2 exhaust
Permalink

I have a KTM LC-2 and i'm finding it hard to get an exhaust. Even an original one. KTM wanting over £500 for an original :S

I'm told it has a DTR Engine so i thought oh well i'll stick a DTR Pipe on it. Looking at DTR pipes and they seem to point up and connect to the backbox different than the Lc1. The LC2 points more down/straight where as the DTr points up and connects.

Does anyone know of any exhaust that will actually fit? I was told bike was 1999 but dont know how to confirm it as of yet.

Okay then your best bet is to go on Google and find a local welding company it shouldn't cost you more then £50 to get it all welded back up professionally then sand it all down and spray it with some heat resistant paint, because it sounds to me hat it is hard to get an exhaust for your ktm hmm

Yeah i understand but having an exhaust welded in original places plus other welds all the way around is just silly. I keep seeing people with DT's and such on youtube which they fit LC2 exhaust's to them but how comes when i look at a DT the exhaust seems to point up. surely if someone sticks a LC2 exhaust on a DT a DT exhaust should fit on a LC2 but it doesn't look like it.

Yeh that is pretty weird i think the DTR exhaust will fit the LC2 barrel as it is the DTR engine, but it may have different exhaust mounts or the frame may be different. But my guess would be with a few tweak's the exhaust would fit no problem, the best bet would be buy a second hand standard one for cheap to see if it fit's & if it does then go buy a full DEP system! But as i have said it is just a risk you would have to take i think mate.

Id rather scrap it in than take a risk tbh. I have twins due in 4 weeks and i have no money to waste. Only other option i see without anyone shedding some light ( Funny how they use LC2 Exhausts on a DTR yet wont share info )

Only other option is a full DTR fram and mount KTM engine since it is DTR engine anyway. That is not worth it or i would have just got a DTR.

Problies the end of the line for this bike.

First off Congratulations on the twins. And for the problem the best bet is just to keep doing research until you find the answer mate, and to put that engine into a DTR frame you are looking anywhere from £300 to £500 for a frame with it's papers! the last thing i would resort to is just flog it on ebay as im sure it would sell fast as they are rare bikes!

I checked ebay first and saw this. It looked different to mine so i checked a 1997 on the net. the pipe comes over left side where as mine comes over to right like DT's

http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/ktm_125_lc2_1997.php

mines 1996 btw according to VIN

I checked ebay first and saw this. The issue is it looks different to mine. Looking at a pic the other day of a 1997 model and the exhaust comes over to left http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/ktm_125_lc2_1997.php. Mine is 1996 according to VIN and it comes over to the right like a DTR.

EDIT: I just relooked again at above pic i posted and although it says LC2 1997 pic isn't even a Lc2 :S Totally over looked the silly mistake then.

although the EBay one seem to have the engine bracket missing what i need to bolt exhaust to engine?

Thanks for the offer. I'm looking for something cheap. Can look like dogs sh4t for all i care.

Just need it started and waiting for paper work from Austria for DVLA to see about getting it on road or not. Obviously if im left forking out Import tax then it will be field use only.

Twins are going to drain me with 3 kids already *_* Money is tight hence i don't have a good bike.

YZ front pipe also goes up like a DTR exhaust so no use on a LC2
