well you can just disconnect it no...? thats what i do...its a long story but meh...ok so i have an alarm that has remote start..however, the remote start will only start the bike if the key is in the ignition and at the 'on' position...i think its a yammy anti hot wire thing. so if i press remote start with no key in...the bike kicks over...but doesnt start. the lights come on and for some reason, on the start up cleaning thing the powervalve does, it stops at fully open! sooo...all i have to do is press remote start with the key out, that fully opens pv...then simply unclip the pv wire block and tada! start the engine and it stays fully open! then all i have to do is reconnect the pv, then turn the bike off then on and its all back to normal :)
before i replace the servo motor for a working one i used to set it where i wanted with a pair of pliers, but its a good servo now so im not raggin it with pliers an the power suply isnt really easily accesable..
so wiring a kill switch to the power came to mind then it gives me the option to go in to race mode easily lol
got one on order already so ill keep ya posted on the success
Race mode, Having the valve 100% open all the time will only make it slower wont it ?, Youll loose power from it, Since it goes 100% open when it has to anyways ?,
exactly, i have been saying this all along, runs better without pinning it open, because the pv closes at low revs (lowering the exhaust port) and raising the compression for a nice low end torque, which you will loose if you pin the powervalve open, the pv fully opens at high rpm's,
Yeah, I dont understand why so many think that pegging it open is a good solution, Its name is even yamaha power valve system, Its even in the name, its there to make the bike faster, stronger, With a good low torque, and a quick high rpm kick.
Yamaha was the first to use a variable exhaust port, This is from wikipedia
"The 1977 OW35K was the first race bike to incorporate the power valve system and it won the Finnish GP in 1977."
it was made to make the bike stronger, Thinking that you can pin it open for more horsepower is just stupid.
I have heard that standard the exhaust valve doesent open 100%, but you can adjust them to do so, and then you will get a stronger kick on high rpm, And you can also achieve higher rpm, Since it lets out more exhaust.
