Temp sensor
Permalink

Hi i have a problem with my temp gauge/sensor. When i connect the wire to the sensor on the head, the gauge quickly goes up to the red line and stays there, before i even start the engine! If i earth the wire directly to the frame, the gauge DARTS up past the red line and maxes out.

Can anyone tell me weather its the gauge or the sensor at fault?

Thanks

Right, got another temp sensor (thanks to millsy), but... now the temp guage doesn't move at all, i went for a good little rip to the other side of town, and then blasted down a dirt track, not a twitch :(

Anyone got any ideas?

Yeah one wire, the green and red wire goes from the sensor to the guage. The guage its self has 3 wires, green/red, brown, and black.

Should the needle move at all when the ignition is first turned on, before the engine is started?

The haynes manual just says, if you remove the wires, make a note of where they are. So not much use, lol
