Help please my dts disintergrating any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated
i have sent a pic my problem to a metal worker to see if he can come up with some kind of extra support strut cos i dont trust my frame 1 bit in this state
Surprising to see a Japanese frame look so bad but it happens if not looked after well enough. I wouldn't ride it like that as it's not safe. See what the metal worker comes up with but i'm not sure what an extra brace at that point would do to the handling of the bike, or to actually make it safe to ride.
Looks like you might have to shop for a new frame mate, or better yet a whole doner DT, wink wink lol
Either way let us know what he suggests, might be better taking it to them to see the extent of the damage.
i know what a mess hey. i went an noticed a rough bit in my paint so i give it the screwdriver treatment like they do under your car an theres what i found... the rest of the frames solid still just these bits generally i treat it well cover it up an mostly bring it indoors but i do have to use it whatever the wheather so that hasnt helped it + the geeza who had it before me didnt treat it as he should thats for sure i did a lot of tidying up.
gutted still
iv got another frame on the offroader aswell but no numbers, dunno iv its ileagal or not to stamp my frame number in to the other good frame an dispose of my number on the original probably is illeagal thou even with me owning them both.
see what this metal worker comes back with anyway failing that yeah more spends on another doner dt frame an v5

get your other frame sand blasted transfer the numbers (without telling the DVLA) and powder coat it or your insurance may be affected if you say you changed the frame
lol its very tempting m8 i sorted it all out anway now bought myself a welder an got my m8 on it, for good measure just forked out for some core carbon fibre material an resin plan on turnin the bike upside down an carbon laminating up the internal of the main tube that was nailed, should create some extra lightweight strength wanted to carbon the outter edge of the tube to where the front wheel flicks crud under the rear of the front mudgaurd straight on that bit of tubing that was perishing. im not sure on how the mot station will respond to it
mig welder will do mate, inch of decent metal to metal weld will hold 1 tonne just dont gas weld it as it can weaken the metal. make sure you clean the area first till shiny then paint over with a few coats of primer and paint!
ahh sorry i forgot about this old post i know how crud it it having unfinished posts when you read down an it just ends, so here it is the finisher an it passed the mot with it
Heres what i did with her i didnt ride it long that way. had it grounded down an welded then some rods down either side an a plate welded in so now its super strong ( iv extensivly tested it with a big hammer ) its solid. but then i kept seeing it an wasnt impressed with the look so iv carbon fibre laminated the whole front tube aswell ( real carbon fibre)
