Black 1999 Dtr :D

So this is my 1999 yamaha dtr

I bought it about a month ago with 16k on the clock and tbh it wasnt it the best shape. the bloke i bought it off seemd like a bit of an idiot (revving it like f**k from cold). anyway since buying it the forck seals have gone, the stearing bearings are on their way out and i think the rear disk is warped :/ but as for the engine its running spot on.

so far i have changed the crank case gasket (was leaking oil) fitted a new sunline, red cluctch lever ( old 1 was snapped in half) and taken all the tatty stickers off and given it a general tidy up :)

The pics are the ones that were on the ebay auction before i got it ( i will put some up to date one on soon) :)

any suggestions welcome and i will be probably picking your brains in the near future no doubt haha

cheers, jake

the stearing bearings can be turned upside down so you dont have to buy new ones hehe.. Mine are on there way out, little knocks over speed humps and pot holes but garage said they don't need replacing till the stearing starts getting stiff or something.. and they been like it 6-7months.

very dangerous doh

i had an mtx with bad head bearings ,once your upto about 60mph it can fook with the handling

it would speed wobble and almost tankslap

when you got off the bike you could still feel the wobble in your body

get the taperd ones they are much better

after you have ridden on them a while make sure you check them again

they will bed-in and settle slightly and you could end up commin off the bike as it makes the front tyre judder across the tarmac under braking

hope this helps smile

no power gains on the rear pipes but its all about looks and sound, i found that the shortend bigone is louder than a shortend dep

its good yeah! i got a bashed up front dep pipe and thats nothing compared to the athena but that might be to do with the fact its got sh*t loads of dents haha oh and it power wheelies! :D But not too keen on the look of the rear pipe but it does sound nice in the powerband
