Finding Frame manufacture date

Ok so i'm trying to grab as many details as i can. I was sold the bike claiming it as a 1996.

Frame number is only 9 digits long. Is that normal?

Frame starts   3MD-036***  Now i see on internet people are able to get dates by these numbers somehow.

So like i was told 1996 but looking on internet i see my bike ( This one i bought ) by a previous seller claiming it was a 2003.  3MD relates to 1990 > 1996 according to some researches.

Need to try get info i can as heading to cop shop on monday with it to get checked over since it has no V5. They said all they can advise is push it to them and have them check it as they can't do it over phone due to Data Protection.

also does anyone know the number for Yamaha UK where i can possible get the Reg plate details from them?

Yours is either a 1992 3RN5 model or a 1993 , the model codes only go up to 1992 on this site

Well took it to cop shop. After an hour of confusing and 15 police standing at the back of local police station i finally collered someone with a brain to assist.

Bike is not registered as stolen or anything.

Also been in touch with Yamaha and they told me bike is actually registered in 1993 so that blows out the 1996 model i was told.

£40 for original documents and info but wait was 4-6 weeks. I advised was it possible a dealer could tell me sooner if i went and paid. She advised it wouldn't but said if i email her she will email me just the registration number so i don't have to pay. Then can go to get V5 from DVLA.
