Battery Problems??

Tried searching for a previous thread before posting but couldnt see anything after having a quick look through

... anyway i recently bought a new battery back in december as the previous one didnt wanna charge but it solved the problem till now, i used it frequently back in december for a couple of weeks and it was definatly keeping its charge as i use to leave it for days sometimes and it still fired up but after not firing up since mid december ive got the same problem again where its not holding its charge, had to bump it everytime i wanted to start it today and that was after going for a 6 mile ride :/ question is how can i check if its the battery or if its a dodgy charger lol (alternator isnt it =noob ??)

, mate and a local bike dealer said it could be the battery after leaving it that long with it connected to the bike, any info would be appreciated :D

Cheers

yeah in the end went down to my local bike dealer as it was closer and it was coming up as 9 volts, so he offered to charge it for free so that i can see if it actually is the battery or that i jus didnt ride long enough to allow it to charge :)
