yeah wrong place to be looking i know- i did a part x with my dt in my profile picture for the cbr and extra cash cos i was sick of it breaking down. there was far too much wrong with it.. it needed a whole new engine- then i came on here and miss the dt i need to find something with a better foundation that i can learn to work on as im not that clued up myself..cheers though..
it was an 89 with so much wrong with it.. although i didnt know as im no good with mechanics, i broke down for like 5th time in just over a month and id had enough- i thought it needed a top end rebuild which i explained to the chap- turned out there was a whole in the engine the size of a 2p water had got in and ****ed the top end bottom end and the gear box.. a few days later i saw him on dt pages on facebook asking people to buy a new engine then afew days after that i saw he was breaking it for spares on ebay to 'try' and get his moneyback.. i felt so bad-but he said you win some you loose some.. not my fault i guess- i didint have a clue..and i payed 600 ontop.. the bike looks alot better in the picture than what it was- it was a mess..
Na mate, cbr 125's hold there money nicely as there good starter bikes dude, wait till it drys out a bit and the noobies on eBay will be scrounging through for one!
as a complete novice how much should i ask for it with 16,000 on the clock, near mint condition, 2004 plate. after market exhaust and all the paperwork- ill upload some pics now.. be great if you could help me out with some sound advice.. :}
I'll have a scout around ebay for you and try get an average price for the mileage, as im not too sure myself! but im bored so it gives me something to do ^^
Does look tidy mate, from what im guessing at the moment your looking at 1.2/1.3k wait a few months and that might push up to 1.4/1.5, try sticknig it up on ebay and see what happens?
sound mate.. some lad said if i part x my bike with a couple hundred quid ontop he would give me his tidy cagivo mito bout 8/10 condition.. said he could get 126mph out of out.. again its 93 and ive read a bit aboput them probaly break down on me all the time.. not sure how much of a commuter it would be.. what do you lot think of them?.. thanks for the info on the cbr thought.. puts my mind at rest a bit :}....
Well if you wanna become a certified mechanic im sure the Cavigo is the way to go! i'd hold on to the cbr till it heats up a bit and you will get some nice ££ easily id say
to be totaly honest mate there must be a reasone he is swaping like you did your dt wasent runing right the mito must be the same and if he said he has got 126 out of it it means he rags the tits off it =[
i wouldnt swap it for a mito their parts are very expensive and require a lot of maintenance, + liike toy said if he's bs'in about his top speeds he's obviously ragged the titties off her!
good advice... cheers lads.. been round town today and seen a few lads out on a dt.. i need a mechanically sound one asap.....i just have to drive on the motorway when goin to work. and dont feel good for the dt engine when in the highest of revs... any of u lot commute to work on a motorway?
Nah mate but i used to commute daily with the dt with super short sprocket ratios so i was in the powerband in every gear if i like it or not haha, just fitting new piston cylinder this weekend to get back on the road, you should be fine mate, aslong as there is no knocking noises etc when the bikes warmed up when you view and it pulls well in each gear nps m8. worst case scenario you need a new engine which you can grab for 200 squid on ebay or if the topend goes its under 100 quid so get your dt back son!
+ LMAO NATH! hahahaha damn right baby! now come give me a backy on your gixxer im waiting in my full leathers!
if you put a bigger sproket on the front or smaller on the back it wont be as quick from the line still faster then the cbr and will cope at 70 fine it wont have that much grunt to pull out of truble thou iv been on dule carrege ways alot and did a 40 mile trip most of witch was on dule carrege way doing 75 non stop on it and it was fine it was infact my mates derbi 4 stroke that broke down not the trusty dt XD
might i suggest if your going on motorways you have a full licence why not get something bigger like a drz 400 u can get them for not that much more then the dt and will cope with motorways much better
yeah ive taken my DT on the m6 for 14miles or so and on the A14. Dose very very well all in all 115 mile trip to b/ham and back. over taken a few cars on way home tho as was cold as.
getton lads... Ill start my seach for a dt in the summer... shame most of the bikers on here seem to be way further up north than me... summer meet ups would be klass...
