Ok so got a loom on a mates bike and its a total mess, he sourced a replacement but it was a totally different loom, and also the conector blocks on the bike for  ignition, headlights, cdi ect are all broken or missing  and rotten.

anyone just done a straight through single wires no blocks just wires and then soldered (or plugged) to things like the ignition ect.

just the bikes wires are in such a ****ed up state it just seems to be a good idea, got the haynes manual for the bike but the frame/engine is 4BL which aint in the diagrams for it.

anyhelp much appreciatedhmm

Yup, hardly any blocks left on mine. Just cut them off and connected everything wire to wire

it can be done m8, was thinking of doing this for my next build to have bare minimum wires n mess ,so all lights ect is wired to a hefty switch then that wired to the battery, so all the indivual switches for head light brake lights ect are powered once the switch is on but then u gotta work out the cables for the charging system thats the hard part imo, prob be easier to have a partial chunk of the loom tho for the charging side, regulator and cdi the rest would be easier to do

ok cool can you remember what size of cable you used as in 2mm, 2.6mm, 1.6mm, and how much you roughly needed in length?

the wires have to be nearly sanitary clean to solder

my loom had been chopped up so it would only run

i tried soldering it but the cable was in a right state even if i stripped it back. it just wouldnt solder

had to buy a new loom in the end

I made my own loom from scratch for a road going monkey bike. It's got ignition switch, lights etc and to be honest I thought it was a gonna a piece of p!ss to do. Wrong !! Ok so I got it finished and it works but what a pain. You gotta have patience and take it one step at a time. It's defo easier to start with some sort of original loom and modify it to suit. Don't even know why I actually bothered cos a monkey loom is £20 ... ??

Good luck and take your time.

Standard size just cut a bit off and take it with you to the shop. Length has the run the size of the bike and you'll need extra black for all the earths
