It does a hell of a lot more then raise/lower the seat! By making them shorter (raising the bike) it will steer quicker and turn with less counter steering effort Will also improve braking as weight will be shifted towards the front Also if your feeling really ****y it will allow you to lean further over

If it does all that then why did Mr Yamaha not design shorter bones?

Because not everyone is 6 foot tall lol It was most likely a compromise between the above aswell as keeping the bike appealing for the not so tall people
I was talking to my mate about this, we swapped bikes for a while, I rode his wr125 and my dt felt tiny when I got back on it again lol. Only thing I was thinking is does it not push you right forward into the tank if it's raised? The seat's already at a bit of an angle, does it not make it worse if you raise it?
Everyone buys the -10mm off me but not the -5mm, i find with the 10's off roading is alot harder as the bike sits higher, great for road though. Ive now fitted the -5 and its alot easier off roading, can get a better lean on it to donut around on it and turn.

When i'm 'dropping the hammer' I tend to sit right up against the tank.
Bought the Dog bones of Supersteve and wouldn't say i've had that problem
