i think so, tbh i think the seller just talked a lot of bull**** when he was selling it, engine runs ok i guess apart from head gasket gone, not super fast does about 70

has it got the dellorto carb? or the mikuni?.. the engine has the P marker, which i can just see in one of your pix. That engine is a 4DL top end, if its the belgarda motor then its a rare sort after one. If its got the dellorto, then its the italy model.

When running spot on, that bike should do a 90+mph, as its the exact engine in the TZR125R Belgarda. My TZR did 100 with that engine.. also.. it will probally have the 3 wire servo, and Belgarda CDI.. very faint white marks 4DL written on it..

Probally needs the top end rebuild, but what a bike.. i would love a TDR belgarda..

yeah theres knocking noise at low rpms and im sure all the restrictions have been taken off so i expected a little more than 70, didnt have a clue it was the 4DL, how can i check for certain? it does have the dellorto carb, 28mm i think?

the belgarda`s were never restricted, it was full power from the factory, the dealers in this country never sold them, they were imports only. If its got the dellorto, then its the 32mm and with the water pre heat pipes. Very rare indeed. Not only that, has the inlet manifold that was made for it to fir them engines.

If your only peaking at 70, then i would suggest a full top end rebuild, but just to check if the bottom end bearing if ok or not, take the the PV cover off, start the bike, tick over, and then place a screw driver on the pv (center nut) and push firmly. if the ticking noise goes, its just the PV rattling.. if its still there it could be bottom end bearing, or piston slap/rings.. Get a compression tester and see what she is pumping.. Mine on a fresh rebuild was at 115/120 Psi

the CDI, if you look at it,should look like this.. 4DL written on it.

this is the 32mm dellorto

any how, if you have belgarda, then you got a sweet bike to build on,, very lucky..

checked today and its got the 28mm dellorto, PHBH or something like that

Checked CDI has 3MB written on it, barrel also had 3MB on it but nothing on the head, exhaust had 3PY on it and frame said 3SH, also checked the powervalve that had 3MB on it, think it was the 3 wire one

Frame said Belgarda s.p.a, does that mean its from spain? haha, also took head off, head gasket has gone and piston has about quarter of a millimeter movement to each side

the barrel will have a "P" marker,, would read 3mb00 P 124cm3 thats the ported barrel from motori. Italy.. will have slightly better porting over a standard 3mb00

the head should be unmarked.. also with a "P"

Unknown, why the 28mm carb..unsure if the TDR belgarda had that or not, was lead to believe it was the VHSA 32mm same as the TZR

The CDI you have also 3mb, unless previously swapped out maybe..

Belgarda is the italy arm of Yam, S.P.A not sure.. must be like the area code or somthin.. your engine cases where made by Motori, like this..

Both of my Belgarda TDR's have the same 28mm carb you mention, has a black plastic float bowl. The DT's of the time had a 26mm carb.

Both of mine also have 3SH marked CDI's

ahh cool, yeah i got another engine from a 92 tdr and it had the same carb, just blew this one up tho whilst my other is getting rebuilt! doh! so currently havent got a bike to ride around which is annoying lol

this 1992 engine has Y-1 marked on the barrel and my original engine from the bike which is 1993 has Y-2 on it, any difference?

the belgrada tdr is very are but is known by the fact it runs berembo 3 spoke wheels and calipers , either way there cool bikes and rare mate look after it and maybe consider striping the blown motor you have now and have a crack at rebuilding it its good fun and you're learn so much about the the engine and how it works you're never book it into a shop again trust me yam engine are great to work on and well thought out ! , also you can run the 32mm delborto of the 4dl id you chose just need to tease the manifold slight to make it snug in lol
