Seeing as no-one else has posted they have tried this removal/reduction that NORFE has done to his flywheel looks like I`m the second one but I may be wrong. Now where do I started lol, I`ve had the modded flywheel on for a couple of days I didn`t want to comment until I`ve covered at least 40 to 50 miles on it. I do like this mod yes it does seem to rev better alot better and I managed to get 75 out of her today on a down hill and thats with nobblies on it aswell and with wind against me lol. I`m usually getting 65-68 depending on wind conditions with nobblies on. So for me its defo an improvement I just wish my spare wheels wasn`t in brum at my parents house as I would of tried them with totally different tyres. Anyways so far so good I like it and it hasn`t broke my bike not at the mo anyway lol. So if your after another mod go for it and NORFE will only be too happy to work for you if your unsure how to do it.

Cant really see how you can possibly get this right. To get this right you need a lathe, I am unshure if thats the proper word, but google translate told me thats right, Tbh i never heard that word before.

But back to the point. To get this right you have to put the flywheel into a lathe. Make some sort of fixing. then you just cut out 1mm all the way around it. If you do this and get the fixing right so the flywheel is in balance. You can be shure that the flywheel is in balance.

But on my dt 125 there is a "mark" on the flywheel which marks each round the flywheel does so you cant cut that part down so therefore you couldnt cut the whole flywheel 1mm.

But i would never take out a grinder to make my flywheel lighter. getting this done properly with a grinder has to be close to impossible. I read the stuff about drawing a pentagon around the flywheel and all that, but still.

if you were really worried about it you could go to an engineer and get it balanced, shouldnt cost too much

im shure an engineer wouldnt do anything other than what i explained. Get it fixed and then use a lathe to cut it. Cant see any other way to make it more balanced than that.

The magneto on ur dt has weight, like everything. If you cut of some of the steel on the magneto it loose weight :P . but if you do this uneven or uprecise you might end up with a magneto that is out of balance, and that could screw up your main bearing.

Im not wurried about the dangers, I am aware of the dangers. Friends of mine who has even done this with the lathe. got their bearings seized up shorty after, this was on a 50cc and my friends didnt dare using that magneto afterwards because he was wurried the magneto weight removal got slightly unbalanced.

The dt engines are bigger and more reiable than a 50cc engine. but still. I dont know how long it will take, But if the weight removal isnt done precise and the magneto does get unbalanced, the bearings are going to go bad.

Yes it is my bike it does have the modded flywheel on there yes. It is quicker than it was well it is for me its derestricted obviously & it does have carbon race reeds in there running standard bore it doesn`t have any other mods at the mo as I haven`t fitted bigger carb as of yet as im waiting for a conicol filter to arrive. TBF Can you tell me what type of sound for quicker or responsive should be like?
