alright all, i've stopped my water leaking from my head from removing the pipes to the carb and blocked the head holes, but now i have an even odder problem, riding about today my coolant bottle lid is pingging off with over pressure from the water and cant seem to figgure out why it's doing it, all pipes seem fine none trapped or squeezed or anything... no idea wtf is going on now... so help is desperatly needed so i can gogo get my bike back home

when mine did that it was the head gasket

Heads can warp with severe heat, and even with a new gasket (gotta be OEM or else it fails by the time you get off your street lol) the problem would still be present

I thought my water pump seal had gone so I was leaking white creamy fluid all over the place wink

yead gasket gone only thing that can pressurise the system, head or barrell surface must be warped mate

Took mine to a place near me and an old chap skimmed it for a tenner
Said his boss was on holiday and he'd fit it in inbetween jobs, had it back and fitted in less than 48 hours wink

got a new head today, going to try fitting it and see how that works out, cheers for the help (if this one fails too, anyone got any other heads for sale?)

Why buy another head that 'could' be warped when you can fix yours for next to nothing or get somewhere to do it for £20 or under?
And you got a new head gasket to go with that head? The DTR isn't a bike where you can re-use the head gasket (although my bike is wink)

It's so easy to skim the head yourself. There's no point putting it all back together to chance whether it might work or not!

Just skim it!

yes got head mate ready & skimmed for if i needed it but i have 2 any way, u shuda just done yors then u no it wuda bin good takes ten mins to do how much did u waste on another head hed ha

i got the head off an old working engine i had and have a set of gaskets anyway, not had time to fit it yet tho, will do it in a bit and hopefully it should be alright if not, i'll be sending some more dollar to someone for another head =d
