So what special tools are there for the DT and what do they do ? now I seem to remember some where seeing a tool for the extraction of swing arm bushes but cant for the life of me remember where , and all right before you tell me to go and get the big hammer out I know it can be done that way , but years of struggle and then watching some smart Alic come along with some fancy tool do in 5 mins what you have spent hrs spiting and farting and using all manner of naughty words skinning your knuckles to the bone , so I now have decided that if there is a tool I will buy beg st--- (no not really)or borrow and try and do things the easy way when ever possible so what tools are there for the DT ?? cant see there being that many ,but then I am the new boy

A hammer, the bigger then better..
But no really I didn't really needed any special tools when I had mine
A collection of sockets/spanners and screwdrivers will do 90% of the time
Only problem for me was getting to the sparkplug, but then again I could never be bothered to take the tank off lol

Took all mine apart, then put it all back together again without any of the specialised Yamaha tools, but would suggest a decent cordless rattle/windy gun, an impact screwdriver, tapered drifts(for getting bearings out) and some type of easy-out stud/screw extraction kit, oh and a decent torque wrench for when you come to putting it all back together again.

easiest way is to get it in a big vice with a smaller socket to sit in side the recess in the bearing housing on the bearing race, then support the back side of the swing arm with a bigger socket

nip it up so its in snug

then get the blow torch and warm up the area

then tighten the vice thiss will push the old bearing out till its free inside the big bearing on the other side

do u no how i mean???
