little update,

i changed my order to standard size piston

what i didn't know is that the nikasil was plated straight to the barrel without a steel sleeve

the plating is in perfect condition, these barrels where never made to be rebored, because the plating is so hard,

the wr200's in the USA are all steel sleeved, and the nikasil ones are gold dust to the yankys as an upgrade according to the guy who i bought the piston from.

no idea where the plated barrels were releasedblankstare

but the wiseco rings are fine to run in my barrel so alls good

iv never nown a plated sleeve on any bike pal, all the mxers are just plated straight on to the barrel all the bores iv seen are either sleeved or plated confuse

ye i know but it looked like it had a sleeve from looking at the top of the barrel. was just an outline where the old gasket had been

But what if the engine of one of those are seized ??, Are they unborable ?. Someone told me that since the dt 125s has nicasil in the barrel, They cant be bored :S can someone explain this ?. cause theres not uncommon to bore a dt barrel..

Much prefer sleev

all plated cylinders have to be machined or chamically stripped of the old plating

repaired /welded or what ever then bored slightly over size

then there plated over size then diamond honed to spec size

sleeved cylinders normally get 4-5 over bore sizes befor the sleeve has to be pressed out and a new one fitted

then honed to spec size

Yep, hence why its costly, plus cant bore it to a bigger cc

nikasils can be rebored, not as much as a sleeved barrel and it is very  expensive nikasil plating unless you got contactssmile

but they do make oversized pistons and steel sleeves (about £60) for the wr200,

the nikasil barrels are rare shizzbiggrin and more "racey" nikasil is hard as fook and even if the piston skirt melts the barrel doesn't score, usually the bore gets covered in a thin layer of melted piston giving the illusion of a scored barrel, but this can be fixed easy

not using the bike as a comuter just pleasure...

yeah i no they can, i thort with what he was saying is the wr 200 only comes in 1 size thought it was odd lol

yeah its hard but iv managed to kill a few barrels specially hondas as there weak on the exhaust bridges, and plating chips and all sorts if the piston siezes bad, but yes most is ally welded on to it theat can be chemically stripped, then honed then used again

but its way to expensive for my liking, if things go wrong once ite £120

where as if its got a liner in its 20 quid a rebore biggrin

I would be, but I got a million and 1 other problems to sort out first haha! I'm actually looking to get a full DEP system when I start doing performance. Any better than the gutted standard? I only really want it for looks. So that means i'm looking at a new one cause otherwise whats the point right?

I'm no expert but a whole complete bottom end rebuild. The idea here is that you could 'fool' the cops in thinking you own a 125. 125 number plate and frame so it wouldn't come up by the police. The stroke length is different so new crank is needed. It's a lot of work mate. If you've got a full license then just get the bike. Unless you like a challenge and are very knowledgable

i have orderd a gilera sc125 engine to fit my wr barrek to because its a shame to dismantle a perfectly good engine,

pistons seized on standard bore aparently

parts that i wont need will be

barrel 3mb00 with powervalve

or i could sell the powervalve with servo as a Kit for someone that hasnt got the servo

head 3mb

crank

looks like it comes with a pv servo

inlet manifold and reeds

boost bottol

maybe cdi if included

parts should be ready after the 22nd as im going away, but might have them off the engine before
