I recently got myself a Yamaha DT 125 RE -06. The piston has ran about 18 000km so I'm about to change piston. My problem is that it's really tight and narrow where the cylinder screws are, and I can't reach them all with my tools.
I believe you're able to change piston on these bikes without removing the complete engine from the chassi, right?
Could someone please post some pictures and info of what tools you use? Also if you have pictures from when you've removed the cylinder yourself is useful.
How did you do when you put it back togather then? I've been told to use a torque wrench when tightening the bolts back. Found the values in the workshop manual. Problem is , I find it really impossible to fit a torque wrench at where those bolts are. I know there are certain adapters and sleeves, but I don't know any that would fit there.
I did mine ****ing tight. Should be fine mate. Take lots of photos and keep everything in good ordered fashion. It really isn't too difficult. I always find it's good to lightly skim the head and cylinder to ensure no gasket has been left on. Also make sure you use genuine yammy head gasket. That is an absolute must!
Make sure that the arrow on the piston points towards the exhaust port.
