Have you tried manually earthing the engine with a piece of black wire under an engine bolt then other end strait to batt!,this can eliminate all earth issuse in one hit ,,other than this get a multi meter and the diagram then check you have a complete connection on all the other wires this will eliminate the loom altogether (continuity someone you know will know how to do a basic test for you bud )

Are you getting the basic stuff working? horn, tail lightbrake light?, indicators? that should give you a good ignition switch, earths and handlebar switches, has the sidestand switch been taken out? if so has it been bridged? kill switch wire earthing in switch or elsewhare? theres a few things to eliminate first Sean, but trust me mate 99% of the time its something really really simple, thats been overlooked.

I'll not insult yer intelligence by asking if you've swapped the main fuse? as if you have the old school glass ones it can look like its ok but can be broken in the end where you can't see the wire.

I had this for a short while then realised the earth had pulled away form a solder inside the loom. The idiot solder it at about 3 different points with loads of black wires running off them . Bit stupid and pointless imo so changed it. Anyways was the loom all in tact etc?

loom looks fine havnt actually stripped back all the casings to check each indiviual wire, wat are the chances of 2 looms having the same random fault? its a proper head fu*k iv replaced everything, n sean tht pretty much sums it up spot on execpt i wanna swing the bike at another bike lol

Yeah but i'm thinking we swing Nathlaad at someone, he's skinny, we could get some force behind it..And knowing my luck it's entirely possible for me to get something stupid like that for the first fault on the bike lol.

on the l8r dtre/x the earth cable from the battery is bolted directly to the engine and into the loom so there defo a good earth, i am getting a small voltage from the pulse wire but my multi meter is a cheap **** one n hasnt got the speed or capability to measure a voltage tht pulses that quick so it jus flickers random numbers and im not spending 100 odd quid on one lol but it is getting somthing up there jus dont know wat..

Ok you've got a multi meter ,any multi meter should be able to do continuity test ,just check the diagram for wire colours and where they go,then attach it to either end of that wire to make sure it isn't broken somewhere, this way you also check every wire on the bike very quickly, let us know tho bud,all the best

I've had a look at yer thread Sean, and all the stuff I would have suggested has already been suggested mate, I think the diagrams I remapped are for a 89 - 98 loom, does that cover your bike mate?
plus its in the electrics somewhere I think Norfe brought them up the other day.

Bike seems fine mate, lights work, PV does it's cycle, brake lights work or at least they did not sure if bradders has re-wired them up yet lol. Not sure about fuses but the whole thing acts like it's normal and the electric start even cranks the engine over like it should.

Just no spark. :/

Guess we gotta go over the whole loom with a fine tooth comb and see if we can find anything.

exact same thing happened with mine

no wonder the bike had a chopped up loom

bought a brand new loom and it didnt start

turned out to be the kill switch

disconnect it and give it a go

Take off block connectors on CDI and make them all single bullets instead, if you use silicone outer sheathed bullets you get a clean good conection, plus seals against weather, cant trust those blocks all the time, hard to find a fault in one when one does go, i've had 2 CDI's that had a faulty connection on block. Can eliminate any faults for future too if not problem now,

Have a look on Yambits website, put in search codes ELP007, ELP008, ELP009,ELP0010, for male & female bullets and their outer sheaths.

i remember finding a site where they had every single connector you could think of

even old school connectors, had every size bullet connector and they were cheap too

found the link

Aye just looked at that site, a good selection of stuff, I'm presuming the 10 pack you get for £4.50 consists of 10 female bullets, 10 female silicon outer sleeves, 10 male bullets, 10 male outer silicon sleeves.
Yambits are a bit cheaper though, 10 female bullets, 82p, 10 female outer silicon sleeves, 82p, 10 male bullets 82p, 10 male outer silicon sleeves, 51p, total £2.87.

if its turning over but there aint a spark its more than likely the selonoid/starter relay
try bump starting it, more than likely it will fire up, the starter relays am rubbish on the newer ones.
