Managed to get a chrome dep exhaust for the dt. Guy down the breakers offered to swap my standard one for a full chrome dep system :D

Only thing is it splutters top end now, does the jetting need to be changed at all? Guessing it's running a little lean as it didn't do it before.

Cheers

Easy way to find out mate. Take the snorkel out. If it's running worse then it needs more air. If it's running better but still spluttering then needs bigger jet.

Snorkels already out, but does run a little better without the air filter so I'm thinking it's rich. Gonna try moving the needle tomorrow see if it makes any difference, neighbours are gonna be loving me tomorrow lol.

Nice 1 Petrol Head ya jammy sod smile

I`ve been after one for eva and funny enough I did a post about Jake`s DEP system that he is or was selling 3 days ago shortly after making the post I spotted one on fleabay and managed to get the geezer to do a buy it now. Got some surface rust to sort as obviously he never did take care of it that sense but no holes dents or re -welding done to it. So my 4 month search for a non dented DEP is over so I`m a happy bunny too & looking forward to being another to enroll into the chrome gangster club! biggrin

Not sure about this, it's running worse than my standard exhaust was, been stitched up here lol. Tried adjusting the needle with no luck, still spluttering and feels strangled. The deps for an RE, they don't have anything else inside them do they? Doesn't feel very hollow at one of the welds tbh.

+1 upjet if anything it's a dep + if your standard pipe is the one in your pic then it's not standard it's a "bigone" F+R

You can tell it's a big one just by looking at it lol? It had no markings on it so assumed it was standard, got the front pipe off ebay, not knowing what it was and the rear has always been on it. Think I've found the problem anyway, theres about 2-3mm of carbon built up all round the inside of the pipe. Thrown a load of caustic soda in there and hopefully it clears it all out.

You should notice a massive difference,if the front is all coked up then the back probs needs cleaning too but don't use the caustic on that if it's Ali ,you would also need to clean the valve

Well it wasn't my bike that coked it up, so the valve should be clean lol. And taken the end can itself off and just left the link pipe in caustic soda, may melt the plating off but you can't see that anyway lol.

Make sure you rinse all the caustic off a couple times or yer pipe will rot !does your old pipe come outta the engine then strait down into a u bend?

The dep should start at about 6500 and go to about 10500 depending on how yer bikes running, much easier to use onroad, cruising at 30 with the bigone is a mare

Bike runs so much better now it's all been decoked a bit, still a bit in there when the exhaust starts getting hot it burns it off anyway. Had loads of smoke and orange sparks coming out of it last night after my yobish ride home from work lmao.
