My RD350LC YPVS FII 1986
Permalink

After riding my DT125RE from 17 to 21 I decided to take my full test and get a bigger bike. I knew I was going for a 2 stroke YPVS and so fell in love with the rd350.

I found one locally that had been restored by an engineer over 2 years and got it for a very good price. At some stage I plan to build one from the ground up and do it in the Blue that is on the cover of the manual but for the time being this is a joy to ride and would reccommend the rd to any DT fan looking to move up to a bigger bike. They are still relativly cheap and if you ask me, extremely under rated by todays riders. I honestly cant think of another bike I would swap it for.

2 STROKE!!!

Jesus, they may be 350's but not to my taste personally! Been at brands hatch for the weekend and these were racing over the 3 days. Would love one of these bad boys!

I'd quite like one of the older LC's, maybe a 4LO blue and white but the cost is extreme and I love the YPVS.

Bet that bike is like a beast. How fast is it compared to a 4 stroke ?. Can it keep it with a 700 4 stroke ? Or maybe 750 since thats more common.

2 strokes are theoreticly able to be twice as fast as a 4 stroke, So it should keep up with a 750cc ?

don't think it will keep up with an IL4 750 dude, possibly a 600 at a push!

Have never really tried it against other bikes. I've ridden with the kettle club so GT750 2 strokes and it faired well against those. but they are 10 years older.

A real comparison would have to be against a 1986 4 stroke. I've ridden with a friend on an R6 and as you'll expect, it absolutly rinses me.

All i can tell you is that it's great fun and is standard. Theres loads out there that fit V force reed blocks with spacers, have stage 3 tuned engines, micron GP exhaust pipes etc etc. I think some of them put out 75-80 bhp.

For the money the cost (at the moment) they are an absolute bargain and would reccomend to anyone. I rode a kwak er6n for my test and hated it. My 350 2 stroke, i love!

lol, you've posted that already! What did you find was different about the F2 to the F1 then? You sure it wasnt the bike itself as opposed to the model. I'd be suprised if they went backwards. Not yet ridden an F1 though.
