Installed Vapor Stealth On RE

Happy Days and smiley faces as far as I'm concerned. The new upgrade to my bike has been long awaited for and was worth every penny. Everything felt pretty much catered for and I appreciated the Speedo drive cover. Just so that when you remove the speedo cable, Trial Tech gives you a plug to cover the drive up with so it doesn't get filled up with water.

It's a straight forward install. Obviously the plugs used are not generic and I had to refer to the haines in order to wire the dashboard in. I cut the original plugs off and used bullet crimps so that I can easily change back should I need/want to. I also used the original power supply for the original clocks so that the clocks turn on and off with the ignition.

I'd say for the money it's a worth while upgrade to the RE models! It modernises them and actually gives you some worth while important features. Such as an ACTUAL temperature gauge! Not just a light that tells you you're about to blow up the engine. Also you get the RPM counter so you know when you're pinning the fúck out of it!

I give it a good thumbs up. It all feels good quality and was a very simple set up. I'd recommend making your own bracket to mount it on. Personally I wanted the clocks to sit underneath the headlight cowl .

Does anyone know the size of the wheel as well?

It almost seems acurate enough and I haven't even put my wheel size in lmao. But obviously want the correct size.

Yeah. Does depend on where you've installed the sensor though mate. Whether it's after the waters cooled or straight after it leaves the barrel.

My brother said that these DT's run stupidly high for some reason. His RS runs at about 73

Uhh, I took all day doing it mate.

Very easy, simple to fit. Honest!

Just I made custom brackets out of stainless steel, then out of shiny black plastic to fit mine.

If you use the handle bar mounts then it should take you less than an hour to sort out.

Just need to chop the radiator hoses and install sensor. That's probably the lengthy bit.

Wire in power supply. I put a fuse in mine Just in case.

Hook up the magnet to the wheel. That's like 10 mins.

Wrap RPM sensor around the Spark plug and earth that's max of 5 mins.

There's an obvious point on the DTR forks. Honestly. I'm going to go on ebay and job my memory lol.

There is only two possible points to mount it to. So Either  yours has snapped off or you've got different forks or discs or wheels to me.

I'll get a picture of how I've mounted it to my SM wheels. It really shouldn't be that difficult to figure out

mounts all sorted for mine.. slotted in behind the headlamp -relocated ignition barrel more over to the left side- good point of view from sat on seat! wired up the rpm sensor, power leads- need to install the temp sender- gonna go whrere the temp sender is installed into the cylinder head- the original unscrews and then vapor ones fits in place! all good

mount was made with 2mm steel -galavnised,silver sprayed and laquered :p

Ok already splitting the ignition feed into the neutral and oil lights.. Still be ok to add another wire to supply power to the vapour unit?

Ignition using the existing wires from the old clock. I think i took mine from the LED feed.

 No wait what?

My dt had a separate feed for oil and neutral since they will run off a switch. As in they are not always on.

The back light however will always be on provided the ignition is on. Therefore useful

Lol maybe it's not an ignition feed then... But they are both reviving supply from the same wire. I will get some pics and turn on me laptop ina sec. I will get the Haines out and check what supply to use :)

ok havent really had too much time too look at the wiring diagram, here is the back of my speedo side of the clocks, i have numberd all the components for this topic.

null_zpsbcfe63a2-1_zpsd2a65ed1.jpg

1. Fuel warning light (also used to be on when in neutral)

2. Back Light

3. Speedo Supply

4. Neutral Light

5. Full Beam Light

6. Indicator Light

as u can see the light brown wire supplies power to 3 components, i am gonna get a multi meter from work and test it out tonight, but i am sure that ths is an ignition feed.

is suppose the question is, can i splice the power supply for the vapour from this same brown wire that is now supplying power to 2 bulbs allready?
