If the smoke is very dense and smells kinda sweet, and the coolant level has dropped, you're gonna need a new top end gasket

edit: does it rev freely, or is it like when you rev with the choke on?

Mine smokes quite alot aswell when I have the choke on and rev, when it's cold
The top end gasket would normally not break just like that, but did the smoke smell like 2stroke or more sweet?

After a full rebuild it will smoke a bit because hopefullt the piston and certain parts were oiled well with 2 stroke oil when it was put back together. 2 strokes do smoke alot. often a slight blue tint to the smoke. get it all back together and run it and see, as the engine warms up it will calm down. If you ever seen a 2 stroke being given a blast, especially after not being run hard for a while you'll see huge plumes of white smoke as it clears the exhausts out. Lovely smell!
