hi guys,ive just sold my tdr,and bought a stolen recovered 1999 dtr,i picked it up a few hours ago.when i got it home i thought i would try it out..it started fine, and ticks over fine,it revs ok,when i took it up the road it was quite gutless,i let it warm up,but it was still quite gutless i got up to about 40mph but that was it,it doesnt seem to be smokey,and theres no leaks or knocking noises?the battery is flat and probably nackered and all the wires from the ignition have been cut(i connected a few up and got the bike and lights running)any ideas what it could be or what i should look for?the bikes probably been sitting for 5 or more months?it was dark when i got home so i hav,nt had chance to have a look at it.any advice would be great.
Fella y did u put it in th dtx bit lol ,the loom is gonna need sortin man that's all ,if it's not spot on ur servo etc is not gonna work ,plus u could hav weak spark etc from th bad wiring ,if yer good wiv wiring you can test the whole loom with a multi meter ,if not a new loom is £150 ,see if the guys will move yer thread to dtr /elecs and more fellas should be able to confirm witch bits need sortin ,hope this helps dude
Aye, I'd say that there was a big chance the two wires (brown and black,) going to the servo had been cut, other than that check all erarthing points on the frame.
hi guys you moved it?thanks for getting back to me..i didnt put it in hear because they only cut the 4 wires coming from the ignition barrel(ive reconnected them and changed the fuse on the battery.and i put a new spark plug in.so now all the electrics seem to be working fine.the power valve servo is working aswell..the bike starts 1st or 2nd kick,it ticks over and revs up fine,when i take it up the road it builds up speed untill it gets to 6k revs then it just coughs and spluters(it does it in every gear)????
.ive just removed and cut the wires to the reed switch and its even better,its still coughing and spluttering but ive just got it to redline at 65mph down hill so we are getting sumwhere!!!!.
