Hi gang! i have just bought another DT 125R, and i require a bit of info... well i purchased the bike about a week ago with the idea of throwing a test on it and using it for a spot of greenlaning with the advantage of being able to ride on the road to where i would be offroading. Its pretty tatty as it has been used as a field bike for the last couple of years but at least it is altogether... lights, speedo ect.. i aint looking to spend much money on it so the object is to keep cost to a minimum. The problem that i have is that the front sprocket has been welded on to the shaft as the threads are ****ed, will this fail an MOT because of this? it looks very strong and i believe it shouldnt cause any bother except for when a replacement is due. Thanks in advance...
I CANT STAND BONE IDLE ****S WHO WELD THINGS LIKE THAT, ALWAYS SAME WITH GEAR SELECTORS WELDED ON...
THEN THE NEXT BUYER HAS SOME RITE GRIEF FIXING THE THING, PUT A NEW SHAFT IN THE BOX, IF UR GONNA FIX IT DO IT RIGHT, ULL BE GUTTED WHEN UR MILES AWAY FROM HOME AND THE WELD CRACKS AND SPROCKET COMES OFF,NORMAL WELDING WIRE NEVER PENETRATES FULLY ON HARDENED STEEL AND WILL ALWAYS BE WEAK
SIMPLES
dont no if it will fail tho as i wunt take it like it so never no mate
depends how picy the tester is
safety issue, if it was ment to be welded on it wud be,
cheers for the advice fellas, i am a part time bike trader but thought i quite fancy holding onto this one and adding it to my fleet but will probably just punt on, noticed the seal behind the shaft is feeked, must have got burnt with the heat of welding, am in the middle of a major strip down on my ninja so cbf with another timely project, if anyone would be interested i may break, frame can be supplied with v5 (waiting on it coming back) its an L reg, i have 2 dep rear cans, one as new, the other in good nick, a near mint original front pipe still with restrictors which has never been welded aswell as the rest of the bike lol or £350 for the bike, i am in the North of Scotland, Inverness
I know what yas are saying... bike prices down your way are steep! when i look on gumtree down your way i see pitbikes for sale for crazy money £300 upwards! the same sort of things i pick up here for £70-£80. i look on ebay and the price you see CR 500's going for down in England is mental! i had 2 about 3year ago which i sold for under a grand, down your way i see them fetch double that each! it just shows the price difference when a few mile seperate ya
