After two weeks of stripping the bike down problem free, I am now stuck. The bolt in question is the one below the rear pivot bolt next to the sproket. I was lucky to get a grip of the bolt on the sprocket side as it was so badly corroded. On the other side where the thread is, I cleaned it all up and applied heat as it was so badly seized. I got it turning and it then it broke of the frame. I got the nut bit of the bolt off (eventually) which I will have welded back on the frame at the powdercoaters.
My problem is that I cant get the bolt out. It turns free and I have been hitting it with a hammer and punch. I have also gave a good spray of penetrating fluid. I reckon it 's stuck on a bush. What are my options? Or do I just have to grow a pair and give it a good smashing!! I am worried about damaging the crank case.
no bush as far as i am aware (not in my engine anyway!)-a good puch hitting it from the other side to your photo shoud work. It passes strait through the aluminium engine casing from memory so should come out with a suitably sized hammer and a decent punch. How could it be corroded with that much oil and grease around? :)
Cheers. I will just have to get a bigger hammer and punch. It was me that put all that chain oil there because when I got it the chain was as dry as a bone and totally orange withe rust. It must be corrosion binding the bolt to the crank.
