i'm racking the old gray cells now! as i have lost (x through them in the bin )the photos of my bikes. were the 89 models the mk2 ypvs and the 88 mk1 ? the ypvs i had was black so it could have been a mk 2 no serov fitted you had to lock the power valve open or shut.its just that i plan on doing a lot of tinkering so i dont think its wort the extra money on something i dont need

The 1989 is the start of the newer DTR SHape bikes. These come with the YPVS installed.

The 1988 models is the very last in the line of the lc models and also come with the YPVS and the YEIS. They're just older style and have rear drum brakes. I'm not 100% but I got a feeling that the very last of the line of LC's had rear discs.

The mk1 DT125lc wa 1982
the mk2 i thik was 84-86
the mk3 was 86-early 88

the R took over in 88 and ran til late 2004

the re then took over in 2004/05 and ran til it was discontinued.

The front disc brake came in on the mk2 i believe in 84/85.

All of the lc models and the R up until 1997 didnt have the ypvs as standard in the UK to keep the bikes learner legal.

I would go for an R model personally and then supermoto it yourself. Or go for one of the later DT125 SM (supermotard) editions.
