Chain tensioners

Hi all i ordered myself a chain today, supposedly "super heavy duty"

anyways beyond that i asked my mate that worked in a garage how much dave(the boss) wanted for a chain fitting

and said it comes with a split link id do it myself but i need tensioners putting back round

he replied "just **** them back round thats what there for"

i was under the impression you had to loosen the nut put it back to 1 then tighten them back up

which is the right way?

dont wanna be knackering stuff up haha

You'll want to have the bike on a paddock really mate.

Not a hard job once you've done that. Slacken if the wheel nuts. Restore the chain to 1 or before. Install chain. Adjust accordingly.

Thing is i dont have any tools to slacken wheel nuts, suppose i could go to tool shop and get the specific spanner as i wont have one big enough in the house
Need to get a big box( had one full of draper tools but went missing in a house move which is still annoying to this day )

also i dont have a paddock stand do you NEED one?

Not really. Just handy.

Gotta have tools. Saves you £££ in the long run. Better off having semi decent ones as well. Cheap ones do more damage than good.

Also check the number of links on the box coz It should be 134 links for a dtr and sometimes you have to chop the chain down first ,hope this helps
